Award-Winning Caleb Circuit Breakerz Robotics Teams!
The Caleb Greenwood First Lego League Team, Caleb Greenwood Circuit Breakerz, competed in their first First Lego League tournament at the Sacramento Aerospace Museum recently. The tournament consisted of three challenges — research project and presentation, FLL Core Values, and robotics. Three rookie teams comprised of fifth and sixth graders represented Caleb Greenwood at the tournament.
Although our goal was to simply have fun and learn as much as we can in our first year with FLL, Caleb Greenwood won two awards and had two teams advance to the NorCal FLL Championship! Caleb teams won the Core Values Award, Judges’ Award, and two of the three teams won the advancement into the next level of competition in January, 2014.
Our two teams that advanced to the NorCal Championships had a great showing and represented Caleb Greenwood with enthusiasm and Gracious Professionalism. Our all-girls team won the prestigious Judge’s Award called The Maverick Award for their overall performance in all areas and for their teamwork and hard-working, positive attitudes.
The creation of the FLL teams was made possible by a grant from Aerojet Rocketdyne and a district grant from the department of Engineering and Technology Pathway Linked Learning. We also collaborated in this grant with Theodore Judah Elementary School and David Lubin Elementary Schools.
