Caleb PTSO Updates

E-mail blast

Welcome to a new school year!

As part of our back to school tradition (for those years when we’re not learning remotely), the Caleb Greenwood PTSO celebrated our first day back with a Boohoo/Yahoo Coffee Break with free coffee and donuts for family members to enjoy with a tear in their eye, or a giant smile on their face, after dropping off their student. PTSO gifted all incoming kindergarten students with a new Caleb Greenwood shirt so that they can wear them every Friday for spirit day!

Contributions to the PTSO help us continue these traditions.

Without generous financial support from our community, we would not be able to provide these shirts free for our students, or continue to pay for our Spanish curriculum, fund our art or music teachers, or build out our Caleb Action Center, all of which are key elements in our IB enrichment program.

Please consider making a gift to Caleb Greenwood PTSO so that we can continue to support these essential activities for our students. This month we are focused on purchasing PE equipment.

PTSO Sponsored Events

Friday, September 24: 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.: Welcome Back Picnic, Glenn Hall Park (Thanks to Jill Olmstead, Courtney Hurd, and Carla Gaub for planning!)

Friday, October 15: Jog-a-Thon, Caleb Greenwood Elementary (Interested in volunteering? Read our update below!)

Cougars on the Run

As you may know, Friday Cougars on the Run is back. In the past, Caleb families would join at the track before school. Cougars on the Run begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 7:45 a.m., at which point children may go eat breakfast or line up at their classroom. Please drop your children off to the back parking lot at Camellia Avenue and Betty Way. If any parents or guardians wish to spectate, you may remain in the parking lot wearing a mask to cheer on your runner. Last week, some kind volunteers provided coffee and doughnuts for our spectators. If you have the ability to bring coffee and doughnuts, please sign up here.

Get Involved

Although Sacramento City Unified School District does not currently allow volunteers on campus to work around students, we are hopeful that we can allow volunteers to help with critical roles to support our Action Center Library or important clerical work. First, please contact Jenci Smith for the paperwork or to check on the status of your volunteer application. PTSO President Mairead Reinhard will be coordinating volunteers for the moment. And, of course, parents, teachers and staff are invited to join us at one of our monthly meetings.

Other Opportunities

In addition to targeted fundraising efforts/activities organized each year (Jog-a-Thon, school auction, Read-a-Thon), passive fundraising is an opportunity for the Caleb community to contribute toward identified needs and programs funded or supported by the PTSO throughout the year. We’re identified several impactful and easy ways to give to Caleb, including but not limited to Amazon Smile and/or Spare Change/Round Up on qualifying purchases, Monthly Fundraising Dinners at local restaurants, and fundraisers through purchase of gift cards from participating businesses with a portion of the proceeds going to our school. Details and easy links/instructions will be provided in the coming weeks. In the meantime, mark your calendars for the second Wednesday of each month for Caleb Monthly Fundraising Dinners, starting Wednesday, October 13.

Make a Gift

We encourage you to help support our students by giving online via debit/credit card, Venmo, or PayPal, dropping off a check at the school office, or by supporting us at one of our upcoming events.

The Caleb Greenwood Parent Teacher Staff Organization (PTSO)  is a collaborative of parents, teachers and administrators at our school. The primary purpose of the PTSO is twofold: to provide a communication link between the parents and staff at the school and to offer a vehicle for funding enrichment programs for our students. Please send any questions to PTSO President Mairead Reinhard at calebgreenwoodptso@gmail.com.
