Odyssey of the Mind: March 7

On Saturday March 7, our second grade Odyssey of the Mind team will compete in the regional Odyssey of the Mind tournament. For the past six months, they’ve been working hard to solve a long-term creative problem. This exceptional group of students has pushed themselves to think creatively, to communicate in challenging situations, and to learn from one another along the way. We are so proud of our team for engaging in this meaningful work and wish them the best of luck. They will present their solution together at Natomas High School on March 7, 2020 at 10:40 am.

February Learner Profile and Action Focus

Communicator Advocacy

In IB PYP, being a Communicator means we understand and express ideas and information confidently and creatively in more than one language and in a variety of modes of communication. Being a communicator may spring from new learning and result in Action in the form of Advocacy – seeking to ensure that people, particularly those who are most vulnerable in society, can have their voice heard on issues that are important to them. As a Communicator and an Advocate you may want to share your learning and concerns with family, friends, and all who will listen; send letters and emails to local and global officials to communicate your ideas; write articles and stories about issues important to you; give a speech and teach others about your cause; attend a speech or talk to listen to other perspectives; or maybe join others with similar passions to get your voices heard!

Talk with your family about what values your family holds and explore issues and topics that align with these values. Then do some research together to see how you can communicate your opinions or bring awareness to that issue by becoming Communicators and for your cause!

Great Speeches by Great Advocates!

To close out our Communicator Advocacy Focus, please enjoy some of the world’s greatest
