Principal Search Update

E-mail blast

Greetings Caleb Greenwood Elementary Community,

I am pleased to share that, last night, the SCUSD Board of Education approved the
recommendation by our hiring team to appoint Ms. Samantha Trent as the new
principal for Caleb Greenwood, beginning August 2022. My gratitude goes out to the
team of Caleb staff members and parents, in partnership with the district, who have
worked tirelessly to identify a new principal to lead this community. These combined
efforts have yielded an exceptional new leader in Ms.Trent.

Ms. Trent will share a letter of introduction soon, but I’d like to take this opportunity to
highlight a few details about her experience and knowledge that identified her as the
most exceptional candidate to lead this special school community.

Ms. Trent is coming to the Caleb Greenwood Elementary community for the 2022-2023
school year with both classroom teaching and school administrative experience. She is
an instructional leader and is well versed in inclusive practices, Multi Tiered Systems of
Support, and Positive Behavior Supports. Through her work with diverse student and
staff populations, she knows what it means to be a leader for equity. Ms. Trent has
designed and led professional development for her staff and is a believer in a true
collaborative leadership style that incorporates clear, consistent, communication with
educational partners. She believes in and encourages the voice and feedback of her
staff, students, and families and understands the importance of the integration of IB
traits throughout the educational experience. Ms.Trent will be a true advocate and will
bring fresh passion and perspective to further the Caleb Greenwood vision.

I also continue to be grateful for the support and commitment of Ms. Michele Rossi who
has stepped into the Interim position and provided stability and consistency in
leadership while we conducted our principal search. Ms. Rossi will continue to lead the
Caleb Greenwood community for the duration of this school year and I hope you join me
in thanking her for the tremendous work she continues to do each day in this role.

With Warm Regards,
Aprille Shafto
