Weekly Message from Interim Principal Chadwick
Week of September 20th-24th, 2021

E-mail blast

Good morning Caleb cougars!

It has been a wonderful first couple weeks and we are thrilled with the turnout to our back-to-school night Zoom calls. Thanks to our incredible teachers for their work thus far.

September IB Learner Profile

Our September IB learner profile focus is Open-Minded and our IB Action focus is Lifestyle Choices. Be sure to check-out this week’s IB PYP News! to see how you and your family can practice your Open-Minded Lifestyle Choices by participating in the Peace Challenge during the United Nation’s International Day of Peace on Tuesday, September 21. The weekly IB PYP NEWS! is always available on our website under “News“; and offers valuable information about our International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program and how you can support the IB PYP at home!

Welcome Back Picnic – Friday, September 24

Our Welcome Back Picnic is Friday, September 24 from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at Glenn Hall Park. If you’re planning to join, bring your mask, a blanket, a picnic dinner, and enjoy sweet treats for sale from the Meltdown Ice Cream truck. Thanks to Jill Olmstead for coordinating!

*SAVE THE DATE* JOGATHON – Friday, October 15

This year’s annual Jogathon is just around the corner and will take place on Friday, October 15th . For our incoming Caleb families new to this event, the Jogathon is one of Caleb Greenwood’s major fundraisers. It encourages our kids to run laps around the school track and share their cougar pride in an effort to raise funds that supportCaleb’s IB enrichment programs. Be on the lookout for more details in the coming weeks on how family and friends can pledge their support through the 99 pledges online platform. In following current health guidelines, family and friends will not be able to attend the event in person this year so they will need your virtual support more than ever. Currently, we are looking for corporate sponsors to help cover the cost of Jogathon T-shirts for children, teachers, and staff. Contact Carla Gaub – carlagaub@gmail.com if you can help.   Have a question? Contact Sarah Rodriguez- saraherdz@gmail.com or Curtis Cogdill ccogman@gmail.com

Lost & Found

Our Lost and Found is starting to grow…water bottles, clothing, and lunch bags galore! We set up a lost-and-found area near the cafeteria/multipurpose room gate. The gate is open from 7:30-8 in the morning…come by and claim your stuff.

On-Site Testing FAQ for Parents

We’ve been fielding lots of questions about on-site testing. Students and staff can come in to the care center at Caleb Greenwood any time between 7:40 and 3:00 pm to be tested Mon, Tue, Wed, and Fri. On Thursday the hours are 7:40 until 2:12. Families of students can sign up online (link below) and come during hours listed above. Come to front of school and call the front office to inform them that you are there for testing. Front office number is 916-395-4515.

Finally, getting a full night’s sleep each night, eating a nutritious breakfast daily, limiting screen time, arriving at school on time everyday and having needed supplies are critical factors in how your child is able to learn for the entire school day. Please help your child with healthy habits as the school year continues.
