SCUSD Fiscal Recovery Plan

Post

On November 19, Superintendent Aguilar and Chief Business Officer Ramos proposed a Fiscal Recovery Plan to the Sac City School Board to address our district’s structural deficit. You can watch the presentation here (beginning at the 90-minute mark): November 19, 2020 School Board Meeting

On December 2, Principal Hanson shared details of this plan, including its specific impact on Caleb Greenwood, Kit Carson and other programs across our district. Included in the proposed cuts are staffing reductions that will serve to dismantle the IB Primary Years Program at Caleb. The School Board is slated to vote on this proposal on December 10. In order to preserve our beloved IB PYP for our current and future students, please watch Principal Hanson’s Presentation and take action today. You can view Principal Hansons’s Slides for further details and Sac City Board Member and labor partner contacts.

On December 10, the Sac City School Board will discuss and vote on the proposed Fiscal Recovery Plan. You can watch that meeting here

You can find the agenda for that meeting here. Note that the FRP agenda item is not slated to begin until about 8:30pm, however just prior at 7:45pm, there will be a presentation of the district’s first interim budget report and an update from the Financial Crisis Management Team that you may find of interest as well.

The corresponding agenda packet, which contains impact statements from every impacted site and program, can be found here. Discussion of the FRP begins on page 354, with the Caleb Impact Statement on pages 399-400.

Kit Carson Principal, Santiago Chapa, is holding an information session for parents regarding the impact of the FRP on Kit’s IB programs on Tuesday evening at 6:30pm.  Click here for more information.
