Good Evening, Caleb Families!

We had an incredible first two days of in-person learning last week with our K-3 Cohort B on campus and the rest of our students Zooming from home. I am so proud of how hard everyone worked together to get us back on campus, to follow all of our health and safety guidelines, and to stay resilient through new technology challenges. As expected, we had some glitches, but our teachers and students worked through them and it was a beautiful two days. Tomorrow, Monday, is a day of full distance learning for ALL students. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we are excited to welcome our K-3 Cohort A students back to campus and then our K-3 Cohort B back again on Thursday and Friday along with our 4th-6th Cohort B for the first time!

Be sure to check the Weekly Learning Plans you receive from your teachers for schedule changes, especially for our 4th-6th students as your teachers have planning days this week, and to make sure your child is prepared for school each day with the correct materials and such, whether learning in-person or at home. Before bringing your child to school, please be sure to visit our website www.calebgreenwood.scusd.edu and click on the Reopening Information tab for our Parent Handbook for Reopening, Arrival Dismissal Map, Bell Schedules and procedures.

Please note that parents MUST accompany children for drop off on their FIRST day of in-person learning; AFTER that, if your child is able to answer the passive screening questions and independently navigate social distancing and active screening they may arrive unaccompanied. Please also note that recess is only 15 minutes, and that includes snack time. So please pack a small snack so your child has plenty of time to play too.

Nutrition services is providing free breakfast and lunch to all students, which means that in-person students can leave each day with a bag containing both lunch for that day and breakfast for the following morning. We’re also doing curbside pick up for additional meals, the information for which can be found on the Central Kitchen website linked in our Reopening Information tab. If your child is doing full distance learning, you can come by tomorrow, 11am-1pm, to pick up lunches for the entire week.

If you are waiting to learn about whether or not your child has received a space in our small Expanded Learning program, please be patient. The Center should be getting information to you this week.

This week, please join Maestra Barrera for our live Spanish Zooms and check out our IB PYP Google Classrooms where our new unit will be revealed. We are also still collecting cranes in our collective effort to wish for hope, peace, and an end to violence and racism against people of Asian descent amid the coronavirus pandemic, as well as all communities continually impacted by hate and racism. Please pick up origami paper at the school, or use your own paper, to create paper cranes and drop them off in the marked box by the front door!

We’ve got this, Cougars! Set your alarms, get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, come to school and Zoom prepared and on time, and remember to WEAR A MASK! We can’t wait to see you this week!
