Weekly Cougar Update
June 13, 2021

Post

Good Evening, Caleb Families,

This is our LAST Sunday Update of the 2020-21 school year. This week’s announcements will cover the results of our Caleb Action Center fundraiser, promotions, final reminders and updates for next year.

Caleb Action Center Fundraiser

Thanks to your efforts and generosity, we’ve raised nearly $10,000 to re-launch our library as the Caleb Action Center fundraiser in the fall. Mrs. Cordero is excited to start ordering new books for our collection, technology, furniture and outdoor learning equipment. We can’t wait share the CAC with everyone in the fall!

Promotions

Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, we still don’t get to have our typical end-of-year celebrations, but we are planning virtual promotions for our kinders and a drive-thru celebration for our 6th graders. If you’d like to celebrate our 6th graders with us, please feel free to dress up in your Cougar Spirit Wear, make signs and line up on the sidewalks (three feet apart) on Camellia on Wednesday, June 16, 12:30-1:30. Our Caleb Staff and DJ Char will be on the blacktop to wish our 6th graders well as they drive through the campus and we’d love your help outside the gates too!

Final Reminders

Thursday is the last day of the school year. You can expect a full distance learning day tomorrow and in-person and concurrent learning Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Most classes are wrapping up after lunch small group instruction and instead sharing asynchronous learning activities, so be sure to check your weekly learning plans one last time.

If you have yet to return your textbooks, please do so this week. Students can bring them to school or you can drop them off to our office staff. If you are leaving the school district, please return your Chromebooks to the front office by Thursday. Students who are intending to remain in a Sac City school may hang on to their Chromebooks until the fall.

2021-22 School Year

As I’ve previously mentioned, our Sac City School Board voted on a resolution to affirm their commitment to return to traditional, in-person instruction for five full days per week when school resumes in the fall. You can find that resolution here. We are already busy preparing for this return and we can’t wait to welcome all of our Cougars back in person full-time! Both 4th R and The Center will be providing after school childcare in the fall. You can find information for both programs on our website.

And lastly, I want to say a huge thank you to all of you for your patience, perseverance and positivity this year. I know it’s been extraordinarily difficult for everyone, yet, in true Caleb fashion, we had it! We worked together creatively and compassionately to give our children the best possible year we could. I hope you all have a joyful and relaxing summer.

If you haven’t yet seen it, be sure to check out Mrs. Fitzpatrick’s Final Friday Sing video in this week’s email blast.

Let’s make this last week a great one!
