Good evening, Caleb families!

As you know, Sac City is preparing to reopen our schools for limited in-person learning after spring break and has requested that families select a learning option for the remainder of the year. The form asks you to select between two learning options. The first option is to return to in-person/concurrent learning. For this option, students will attend school in small groups for in-person learning for a few hours two days per week and engage in distance learning three days per week. While we don’t yet know exactly what this in-person instruction will look like, it does give your child the opportunity to re-engage with school, with their teacher and with their peers. The other option is to remain in full distance learning for the remainder of the school year. Regardless of the model that’s agreed upon for concurrent learning, you can trust that we will make the most of both in-person and distance learning as we navigate this transition with our students.

Please note that ALL families get to choose the model that best suits their child’s needs. This is not a vote for a majority selection, both options are available to all children and you may change your mind if needed. While we would love to see all of our students back on campus, we understand constraints exist that will make this difficult for many families. Selecting to remain in distance learning for the remainder of the school year does not impact your child’s permanent place at Caleb next year or their academic standing.

If you have yet to fill out the form to indicate your choice, please do so here by this Wednesday, March 17. If you need assistance or cannot locate your child’s student ID number, please call our front office. We are happy to help!

I know there are still a lot of unknowns, but please trust that the Caleb staff and I are working hard to prepare our site and ourselves for the return of students in person and will keep you updated with any new information as it becomes available. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we navigate important milestones toward reopening for your children.

While you’re completing your Learning Options form, please also take our Annual School Climate Survey. Your feedback about our school culture and climate, even during this unusual year, provides us with valuable information that informs our decision-making on a whole variety of issues.

The deadline to submit your photos for this year’s community yearbook has been extended to Friday, March 19th. You can email pictures to calebgreenwoodyearbook@gmail.com OR upload them to the Caleb Greenwood Yearbook Google Drive. And remember to purchase your yearbook for $25 here

This month, we continue to focus on the IB Learner Profile focus attribute Caring and action focus Social Justice. Last week, I encouraged you all to continue to seek ways to show empathy, compassion and respect for others and to take action for social justice. To exercise our Caring attribute and take action through Social Justice this week, please check out our IB PYP Newsletter in which we share four concrete ways to engage in discussions about bias and diversity with children of all ages.

There’s a little delay on my Weekly Cougar Video Message this week, but it’ll be up and shared by teachers by tomorrow morning.

We’ve got this, Cougars! Let’s have a great week!
